It has been a while since we have done a Meet Nanny feature! Meet Nanny returns today with the focus on Nanny De-Shaun who share a great post yesterday on Weekly Cooking. Now that we have a little insight on how De-Shaun cooks for her week, lets get to know here a little bit better in her Nanny world and other parts of her life.
What is your daily nanny life like?
As of right now I am caring for two children ages 4 years and 2 years Monday thru Thursday. I have been with them for almost a year the both attend school part time during the week. On days they aren’t at school we spend our time doing homeschool academics, playing outside, baking, play dates, arts and crafts.
What are 3 unique characteristics about you that you strive to live for the children in your care?1) Honesty/Trustworthiness – If my kids ask me something I will always be honest with them. I want my kids and parents to trust me and can trust that I will always have their best interest in mind.
2) Fun- I love to have fun and I strive to make everyday as fun as possible while engaging them in activities that involve thinking and learning.3) Serious- I want my charges to respect me and others, so when there times for me to be serious I am not afraid to be when its needed.
What is the most rewarding thing about your career as a Nanny? The most rewarding part of my career as a Nanny is knowing that I have touched a child’s life for the better and been able to be apart of a families life.
What is one thing that you wish you would have known your first day as a Nanny?
The one things I wish would have known the first day as a Nanny is how to open and close the stroller my charges had, I seriously worked up a sweat trying to get that thing to open and close. Now I always make sure if it is a stroller I am not familiar with I ask for a demonstration.
What is something others may be surprised to know about you?
I think a lot of people would be surprised to know I am a extreme couponer.
Do you attend any nanny industry related conferences?I had the opportunity to attend Nannyplooza in Atlanta, I would love to attend the INA conference in the near future. What are some of your favorite online nanny related resources? My favorite Nanny resources are Nanny Biz Reviews, Regarding Nannies, Be the Best Nanny Newsletter, GTM Associates and INA.
Do you have a blog or contribute to any online/print publications?
I moderate a Facebook Nanny group board called Nanny Talk and I have a couponing blog called Coupon Clipping Sista http://couponclippingsista.blog.com
If you have any questions for De-Shaun on her “couponing” or her “cooking” menus, please send an email to us at Regardingnannies (at) gmail (dot) com and hopefully De-Shaun will feature it in an upcoming post on couponing and cooking!
