Yesterday as I was leaving the 28th Annual International Nanny Association in Louisville, Kentucky, I had a great cab ride to the airport. When I checked my bags and was waiting to go through security I was checking Facebook really for the first time since Wednesday, I saw a status from a friend saying:
My thoughts are with the people in Boston. Not even a marathon is safe anymore.
I was a bit confused and discovered there was a bombing at the Boston Marathon. Just a complete heavy filled heart when learning some of the details.
Then to learn that the families of Sandy Hook Elementary were at the 26 mile marker area, and they were subjected to another senseless act of violence breaks me. We must not give up hope though, there are so many wonderful people in the world. Today we saw the actions of some that were not good people.
On Saturday, Dr. G, presented a workshop on Grief. Who knew we would be needing some of the skills she spoke of so soon afterwards.
Here are a few resources about tragedy when something happens. Please make sure you speak with the parents about how to go about answering any questions from the children that may be asked.
