Did you ever do French knitting as a kid? I ran across the blog Montessori Works on a suggestion from Nanny Gael Ann, and I was looking through it and found this fun activity for French knitting. I can see many boys and girls using this for holiday gifts for moms, sisters, aunts and grandmothers among other folks.
I love how Aimee who writes the blog shares the Montessori philosophy with this project. If you or your nanny family like Montessori or thinking of utilizing it in your charge’s life, make sure to explore this blog further.
I then continued to buy little French knitters over the next few years, plastic ones, cute doll looking ones, but never did I find one that was really a tool young children could use. I gave up the search and embraced finger knitting as the knitting work my classroom. You can read about finger knitting in the class here.
