Good as Gold: Timeless Tips for Working with an Agency
The following tips were featured in the National Association of Nannies Job Issue of their newsletter in 2003 and are still valuable today. We asked agencies around the USA to share with us tips for working with agencies that nannies might not know or might have forgotten. I thought that they were worth sharing with you today.

1. Stay in a permanent job for a minimum of one year, except in situations where there is illegal activity in the home or you are in danger. Even if there are disagreements or conflicts, your resume will be more appealing to a wider range of employers if your positions lasted a minimum of a year. The idea is that you don’t want to have to explain away why you left midway through a commitment.
2. Ask for a letter of reference from each employer, with the dates of employment clearly stated. While it may seem that you won’t need it in your immediate future, a written letter of reference comes in handy several years later when that employer has moved and you have lost touch.
