I really enjoy Facebook. I enjoy connecting with my friends, reconnecting with old friends and even making new friends. There are a lot of silly games people play on Facebook and things people challenge you to do with your status. One of the popular Facebook status games goes like this:
Do any of us really know everybody on our friend list? Here is a task for you. I want all my fb friends to comment on this status about how you met or know me. After you comment, copy this to your status so I can do the same. You will be amazed at the results you get in 12 hours
I have seen people do this before, and it’s fun to see what people write about you or what they remember about you.
As I was reading these, I started thinking about all the people that are in my life because of my involvement in professional organizations. As I thought about these people, I started thinking about how different my life would be if I had not been influenced, supported, encouraged, educated, enlightened, inspired or all of the above by these colleagues of mine.
I wouldn’t dare to start to name them because there are so many over the last 26 years that I count among my best and dearest friends, some I have known for most of that time and others I have only met in the last few years.
So with the INA Conference approaching, Regarding Nannies launching their Scholarship Essay Promotion and early bird registration starting this week, I want to challenge all of you who have never attended a conference or those of you who haven’t been in many years, to make an effort to get to this years conference.
It’s a gorgeous hotel, in a beautiful location, it’s in a warm climate, we have a great line up of workshops and activities, you can network, see old friends, make new friends and if you have been working in the field for 5 years or more, you can stand shoulder to shoulder with other professionals and receive your Service Award Pin that is representative of your years in this profession.
It’s a wonderful feeling to think about the people in your life that matter to you and know that you have friends and colleagues across the country that share your passion for improving your profession.
I hope that this is the year that you will make the commitment to attend the INA Conference and meet the people that you network with online face to face, share a laugh, learn something new, and broaden your horizons.
