Glenda thank you so much for posting this. I have been at a lose for about a month now. The children are all going to be in school full time come fall and that leaves me in limbo. The parents say they can’t do it without me one minute and change their minds the next.. So one week I think I’m staying and my duties are just going to change. Then the next week my time with them is coming to an end in September!! I just don’t know what to do. I want to stay with the family as long as I’m needed. I have tried to have a sit down to figure out the next step but they are avoiding the subject.. I know it’s as hard for them as it is for me.. However if I am leaving I think there needs a transition fir both the family and myself.. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. Thank you for your time, Michelle Jimmo

Thanks for bringing this issue to the forefront, Glenda.

I think facing the natural end of a job and losing my day-to-day place in the family with “my kids who live with their parents” is the hardest thing about being a career nanny. I very much appreciate your “Gentle Transitions” website to use for support when the end of my current job approaches.

And I send nannies there all the time, when they mention that the end is coming to their jobs.

Helped a lot, I have been in this situation twice and is still hard to let go and move on even if I have decided on my own its time to move on to a different family. :(
