In this day and age everyone seems to be asking for your email address for your purchase or inquiry into a product. Have you ever just opened your email inbox up and just wanted to SCREAM? You not only deal with sometimes unwanted magazines, credit card offers and other mailings in your mailbox at your house, you now deal with the stuff in your email in box. I am sure that the holiday catalogs will be arriving shortly since it is July.
Today I am sharing with you some sites that I found via The Natural Nanny about how to stop these unwanted items from invading your email and mailbox. They do eventually cost you money as you might like me be lured into signing up for a credit card you don’ t really need or ordering things that you don’t really have the money for.
Opt Out Prescreen ( credit card offers)
Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Consumer Credit Reporting Companies are permitted to include your name on lists used by creditors or insurers to make firm offers of credit or insurance that are not initiated by you (“Firm Offers”). The FCRA also provides you the right to “Opt-Out”, which prevents Consumer Credit Reporting Companies from providing your credit file information for Firm Offers.
- Opt-Out from receiving Firm Offers for Five Years – (electronically through this website).
- Opt-Out from receiving Firm Offers permanently – (mail Permanent Opt-Out Election form available through this website).
- Opt-In and be eligible to receive Firm Offers. This option is for consumers who have previously completed an Opt-Out request – (electronically through this website).to read the rest of the information on Opting Out please visit the website

Email Lists:
Many of the emails you get from companies, magazines and websites have an “unsubscribe” link or button at the bottom of the email. I just recently spent an hour going through my inbox and unsubscribed to tons of email lists and companies that sent me emails weekly and sometimes daily on deals. My ration is that it is costing me “money” each time I see that special “free shipping” or deal on things. This was money I had not planned on spending, but that free shipping and 75% off lured me in.
I challenge everyone to reduce your “clutter” in your mailbox and inbox today! It will save you time, money and our resources in our environment in which we live. The less that companies spend on catalogs etc can reduce the costs that are transferred to us.
Do you have any other tips on getting off lists etc?
