In honor of National Nanny Recognition Week we gave YOU, the public an opportunity to give a shout out to your favorite nanny. The response was overwhelming! Thank You for these messages, and to all nannies – know you are appreciated, loved and respected by your sisterhood of nannies!
Kim Peters – Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of our baby Zoe! Your patience, warmth and fun loving demeanor have been greatly appreciated! Laura and Peter
As this NNRW 2015 draws closer, there are most definitely some special people I would like to bring into the spotlight…most of you probably already know some of them. First and foremost, my dear friend, Glenda Willm Propst. G has always been there for me since that day in 2013 when I was referred to Nanny Transitions after surprisingly losing my job. She brought me back to life and made me realize that there was a special family out there who was waiting for me, and there were…several of them since 2013! She suggested I try to attend INA conference in 2014 in Los Angeles, which I did and never have forgotten a minute of it. I was fortunate to meet Kellie, Karen, Carli, Jenn, Sheri, Joanne, MJ, Jill, Kimberly, Kate, Marcia, Maria, Alice (my Tinkerbell princess), Clelie, Nanny Stella, Janice, Cindy, Kim, Cortney and Row. Whether you all know it or not, you have ALL left an indelible mark on my brain and in my heart that will never be wiped away. And of course, the Nannies I have met through different exchanges…Laura (2), Megan, Lisa St. John (my pen pal), Becky (my Trivia Crack partner), Amanda and Mallette. And…Buffi Gentry and Kate Hooper…lunch date soon??? I have always thought that being a Nanny was a very isolated career – I now know different! HAPPY NNRW 2015 EVERYONE! Celebrate yourself!
My nanny shout out is for Lindsey Faire who single handedly brought together dozens of nannies in the Baltimore area, introduced us, so we’d have “co-workers” and friends making the job a little less lonely. She’s constantly planning trips and get togethers, not just with the kids during work hours, but off duty fun, too. She also organizes training events that offer certifications for all of us, that we might not already have. Also her boys love her and she is my nanny inspiration!
My first Thank you and much appreciation is to Kellie Geres! You bring so much to the nanny world and to me personally in this my chosen career and as a friend!

The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world!!! We may not always get the recognition we deserve but we all know our families can’t do it alone. Nannies supporting each other is a great way to feel good about what we do and having confidence in our choices is self recognition and if you don’t love yourself and what you do, it doesn’t matter if anyone else does!!
Best Wishes to you all,
Since 2003, I have been blessed to be among some of the profession’s most affectionate, empathetic, encouraging, respectful, playful, educated, trustworthy, reliable, responsible and professional Nannies. I respect each and every one of you and am proud to have shared all of the highs & lows of the profession with you. Now that I am a mom myself, I am so grateful to call you my friends & sisters in life. You truly bring magic to every family (including mine!) that you come in contact with! Each of you are a joy to be around! I wish you a week of happiness and a lifetime of knowing you’ve made a difference in the lives that you’ve touched. Happy NNRW!
To one of the coolest Nannies I know, you rock Taz Loukas! You stand out among others for your approach and love of what you do, proud to count you as one of my friends as well as a fellow Nanny!
Nannies lead a charmed life. Our path is solidarity outside of our littles. We play, teach, explore, nurture and set out on adventures all in the hopes of creating a childhood filled with wonder, love and joy. And that honestly is thanks enough, the squeals if delight on Monday morning, the random I love yous, being able to go back and see just how small they were. All of that joy is only further multiplied when we are lucky enough to find a Nanny-Partner-In-Crime! Lindsey Stilling, I am so happy we are friends! You are a mother at heart and it shows in your nanny kids.
Thank you Kellie Geres, Alice Shaffer and Sue Downey for all your time you give to the nanny community. You guys rock!
Myrna Alphonse-Newman thank you for all your words of wisdom and for being an amazing mentor!
Deb Phiri you amaze me with you positive attitude and drive. Remember there is a huge group of us here for you whenever you need us!
Michele Whitesides thank you for always being there and listening to me complain. You are not only a great nanny but also a great mom.
Joanne Garrelts, Melissa Doran,Taylor Augustine, Suzanne Herrick and Hayley Smith thank you for being my nanny posse and always being there for me! You all are amazing nannies.
Happy NNRW everyone! Leah
