Pancakes Using Molds
What you need
Metal cookie cutters
Non-Stick Spray
Griddle or a Pan
Turner, metal or heavy duty (my silicone one didn’t work on this project)
Squeeze bottle or measuring cup
Pancake batter
Paper towels, pot holder or towel
Make your pancake batter and set aside. Turn on your griddle or pan to the heat you would normally make pancakes.
Spray your molds generously with the non-stick spray. Place cookie cutters on griddle and fill half way with your batter. The batter will expand so don’t over fill.
Cook pancake and flip over, now you might need to get a paper towel or towel to help you get the cutter on the turner to flip. After you flip the pancake slide the cookie cutter off. I had to use a pot holder to help, because the cookie cutter was super hot. These pancakes are thick so they might take a little longer to cook.
We chose football pancakes, because it was football season. I made Heart Shaped for Valentine’s Day. You can use whatever shape you like.
I always make a double batch of pancakes at the beginning of the month and freeze them so I don’t’ have to make pancakes once or twice a week. One of things that I like about these cookie cutter pancakes is that they are super thick and are great to take along as snacks because they don’t crumble as much.
We do make pancakes just using the squeeze bottles that are how I made the pancake with the J in the middle. Fill a squeeze bottle with pancake batter and squeeze out the first letter in your child’s name (you might have to draw it backwards) and wait about 30 seconds and then cover the letter with more pancake batter. When you flip it the letter will be in the middle. My son loves the letterpancakes, because he tries to think of things that start with that letter.
Need an awesome Pancake recipe, here is ours.
1 ½ cups of whole wheat flour
1 ¾ teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
Whisk ingredients together
Then add:
1 cup milk
2 eggs
3Tbsp canola oil
2-3Tbsp honey (depends on how sweet you like it)
Mix together until blended, pancake mix is not supposed to be smooth; there will be some clumps in it.
Let pancake mix set for about five minutes before you use it.
Jack and I eat these without syrup, but my husband adds a little on his.
Jack gives these pancakes a “Thumbs Up!” and adds that for a special treat you can add 1/2 C min chocolate chips!
