Recently two of my friends had babies and 3 more are on the way in the next 3 weeks. I have shared many “Newborn Care Specialist” tips with them that I have learned from my Newborn Care Specialist friends. Today I wanted to share with you some information from Cortney Gibson of Gibson Newborn Services and her tip on “white noise” with babies. I met Cortney years ago at an International Nanny Association Conference where she was teaching a class on the “Happiest Baby on the Block” I instantly started sharing the 5 S’s with all my newborn mom friends. I won’t forget the “shushing” and the “football hold”. I even put those to practice last year when my nephew was born and I visited him at 7 weeks of age.
The power of white noise
If you have a fussy baby or a little one who doesn’t sleep well, listen up. For the first 3-4 months after Baby’s 40 week due date, strong white noise is one of the ways to turn on the calming reflex. It can instantly calm a colicky, fussy baby and can increase sleep by a few hours……
