As a child my brother and I always received an awesome Christmas Advent Calendar around Thanksgiving from our Grandparents. It was the highlight of my Christmas celebration. It was even a little more special because my birthday is December 1 and I always got to open the window for that day! Advent calendars go back to the 19th Century and Germany. We didn’t get the ones with chocolates but just the window pane ones.
This is a fun tradition I have carried on to my nephew Atticus who is 3 and now to his brother Holden who is almost 3 months old. This year I will be close by to see them open the little doors up! Very exciting!
