How long have you been a nanny, or how long were you a nanny? 20+ years
What is a highlight of your nanny career? Seeing the positive changes in the children throughout the years as they have grown and developed. I’m honored to have been a part of the lives and continue to build those relationships as much as possible.
How did you come up with the idea for your product/ service?
I wrote my first book after several people in different communities I worked as a nanny kept asking how the children became so well behaved in a short period of time. It all seemed second nature to me and simple like it was common sense, when in actuality I had to have enough people tell me it wasn’t, for me to write the book. How to Get Your Child to Say, Yes! I Can! & I Will! focuses on how to create nurturing structure to build self-esteem while empowering each child to be a responsible, respectful individual.
What is your level of monetary investment and have you seen a profit? My overall monetary investment has been 5K-10K. That investment involves everything from paperback printing of the first book, software engineers being paid for websites, etc. I have seen profit but in today’s world of technology a person would not have to make such an investment due to e-books and many free programs out there to use when offering workshops, seminars, vlogging, etc.
What is the purpose of your product/service? To help parents and childcare professionals gain a greater connection with a child to nurture their character and abilities during their daily interactions. I coach in areas of creating a nurturing structure for kids to take responsibility on a daily basis that promotes independence.
How has the nanny industry received your product/service – i.e. what has been the feedback you’ve received? Nanny organizations and support groups have been wonderful in receiving and sharing my product/service while giving meaningful feedback. I appreciate them so very much! The feedback is vital in order to reach my target audience. There are some phenomenal nannies out there with great expertise and wisdom. Please continue to reach out to me and give me feedback anytime?
What words of wisdom do you have for others, who may have a product/service and wish to expand its market? Marketing can be VERY time consuming. You need to create a definitive plan on what steps you’re going to take and set specific goals. Networking and building relationships with organizations in your target audience is vital. Always consider the relationship to be a win-win, determine how that plays out, and then follow through.
What do you wish you had known early on, that you’ve learned going through this process? The marketing can be never ending. If you’re a Type A personality like myself, pace yourself through setting goals and creating a plan so you don’t get overwhelmed.
