Halloween is in a few short days. With the chaos of finding the perfect costume, decorating the house, carving the scariest pumpkin or hiding the multiple bags of candy so it’s not all eaten before hand, take a few minutes to think about what you’re going to do with all the leftover treats!
Our friends at GreenWala have this to say about the Switch Witch …
“The Switch Witch is probably the best idea I’ve ever encountered for this problem. The Switch Witch lives on the dark side of the moon and collects candy. She is the envy of the witching community for her ever growing stash. In an effort to stay on top, every year she puts the word out to children: If on Halloween night they will leave their bags of candy next to their bedroom door, she will happily trade them for a new toy.”

What is your favorite way to get rid of extra Halloween candy?
I have not done Halloween Candy in about 11 years. Instead of candy I buy small toys, rings, whistles, snakes, skeletons, pencils and pads of paper and then if I have any left over, I just use it for the next year.
My charge’s mom usually buys most of their candy back from them to take to her office. The kids get to eat a piece a day until the novelty wears off (Mid November) They usually only keep what they really want.
I have a friend who has 4 kids…they get tons of candy at Halloween…she puts most of it in the freezer and when there birthdays come around, she uses it to fill their birthday piñatas 🙂
